Residential Retreats

Turtle Marsh Nature Sanctuary, 30 acres of forest and marshland in beautiful Unity, Maine, will be your new favorite getaway spot!

Guests will have the option to:

• Experience simple elemental living while supported in both your daily living requirements and your spiritual practice by Peter Wohl, Ecospiritual Guide, Author, Zen Buddhist Teacher & Registered Maine Guide

• Peter can assist with your spiritual exploration during your stay from either Ecospiritual or Buddhist perspectives. You may choose to begin each morning with a structured Ecospiritual Immersion, then have the option of concluding the day with a fireside discussion.

• Engage with the natural world as you take contemplative walks on our private trail system.

• Sit in silence by either of the two streams that flow across the property

• Stay in relative comfort in a 13-foot bell “glamping” tent, situated on its own secluded site. The tent has a futon bed and a propane camp stove. Outside is a large deck and screen house. There is a “humanure” toilet in a privacy tent for your individual use.

• Enjoy a diversity of micro-ecosystems and wildlife on the property.

• The Hills to Sea Trail, the Frye Mountain Wildlife Management Area and the Georges Highland Trail all provide nearby woodland walks.

• Sears Island on Penobscot Bay, less than an hour away, is the largest causeway-connected undeveloped island on the East Coast and provides opportunities for quiet exploration by the sea.

• Evening campfires will provide an opportunity to reflect on their day and to talk further with the Guide, if desired.

Please note:

Our bell tent has a futon bed and mattress. Participants will need to bring their own bedding.

A camp stove will be provided, but retreat participants will need to bring their own food.

There is a “humanure” composting toilet and a sun-shower.

A complete list of the other necessary items for the stay will be provided upon registration.
